Lake District weekend.

During the Autumn months in England there’s no better and more beautiful place to visit for the weekend than The Lake District in Cumbria. We try to visit there at least three times a year as it’s only about an hours drive away from Manchester. One of our favourite places to stay in the Lakes is Windermere where the largest of the English lakes is situated. On the drive up to Lake Windermere we usually make a stop off at the stunning Swan Hotel near Newby Bridge. I’ve been visiting here since I was young and I just love the cosy nooks and beautiful country chic decor. The Swan has a gorgeous Spa and pool area but usually we just grab a pot of tea and some lunch in the amazing restaurant, then cosy in front of one of the log fires before heading on to Windermere.

The short 15 minute drive from Newby Bridge to Lake Windermere has some of the most stunning mountain and lake views to take in and the place we love to stay at is called Bowness on Windermere. Here there are steam boats and rowing boats to take of one of the jetties.

The best boutique hotel in Bowness is the Windermere Boutique hotel. We have stayed there now over five times and the luxurious and stylish spa rooms each individually designed are out of this world. Our favourite rooms to stay in all have a steam room and hot tub in so after a nice fresh walk around the lake you can completely relax in your very own private spa.

In the evening if we are not dining at the hotel we like to head out to one of our favourite restaurants The Beresford. Delicious hearty food and lots of wines to choose from I couldn’t recommend this place more. The owner is always on hand for a friendly chat and the best part of the entire evening is the traditional sticky toffee pudding that originated from the area.

On our final day of the weekend we decided to head out for a stroll around some of the local shops. Walking along the lake we came across a stunning interior store called Fab. I was in my element with lots of gorgeous designs from artwork to furniture, candles and beautiful home accessories. We picked up some stunning candle wall sconces for our home that I can’t wait to put up. As with all of our weekend trips to Windermere we finished off our day with a nice drink in a traditional cosy pub called the hole in’t wall.

I’d love to know if you’ve visited the Lake District and where your favourite places to recommend are?
