As you all know I love classic fashion pieces that stay in my wardrobe for years and years, especially ones that I can pull out at any time and rely on. In my opinion one of the best pieces you can invest in is a good quality jacket or lightweight coat. No one does it better than the British when it comes to a classic trench coat design, and if you have read my previous Winter coats blog post you’ll know I have so many trench coats I have to keep most of them on a rail in my attic.
One of the top qualities of a wardrobe staple is that it can be worn with a variety of outfits, it transitions over a few seasons and can be dressed up or down. A simple neutral coloured trench coat can be worn with jeans and pumps on for a casual daytime shopping trip or teamed with chunky knits in Autumn.
A stylish black or navy trench coat can be worn in the evening over a dress as here in the UK even on a Summers evening it can get rather chilly.

The Burberry trench coat is probably the most iconic design and stood the test of time but if you’re looking for a new collection of stylish and sophisticated coats take a look at British brand Jack Wills. Their heritage-inspired range has a sophisticated twist and as late Summer/ early Autumn approaches why not treat yourself to a new statement trench coat!
Personally I like to wear a solid colour underneath my trench coat, white jeans and a white top always look great in the summer months with a classy pair of heels. Don’t take my word for it, the Jack Wills online store have written an entire style guide dedicated to the versatility of the trench. I’ve included the direct link so check it out and let me know your ideas and choices!
Thanks for reading, Much love
