Not to get all mushy this time of year but one can’t help getting sucked into all the hearts and roses atmosphere that is Valentines! A lot of people celebrated at the weekend as the 14th fell on a Tuesday but it just so happened I had Valentines in the afternoon as I was off work and wanted to spend it with my loved one.
We don’t really do Valentines gifts, I’d much rather spend time together than receive over priced red roses or totally non practical underwear haha so we decided to head out for some lunch and watch a film at the local cinema.
What better film to watch on Valentines Day than the new Fifty Shades Darker, I’ve read the books which were ok and the first film Fifty Shades of Grey wasnt too bad so I was expecting better from this film. What can I say mmm it was worth a watch but definitely a girls night out film, Mr ThirtyNineForever was not impressed at all and I think he would have rather watched Trainspotting 2 or something a little more manly.
A trip to the cinema isn’t complete without a tub of Ben and Jerry’s, two huge scoops of my favorite Caramel Choo Choo and Strawberry Cheesecake the only hardship is trying to eat it as it dribbles down your hand in the dark.
The restaurant nearby to the cinema was Frankie and Benny’s, I love Italian food and the service there is always quick and easy. I opted for traditional Spaghetti Bolognese with a delicious garlic, cheese and tomato flatbread on the side. And of course with it being Valentines we got a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate.
After a lovely afternoon we headed home to snuggle on the sofa and eat the gorgeous box of cupcakes and brownies I picked up from the bakery (diet starts Monday) LOL. I hope you all had a great Valentines whether it was spent with lovers, friends or relatives enjoy the love.
With Love
