Weekend in Wales.

Last weekend I visited one of my favorite places in the UK to unwind relax and totally chill out, Deganwy in Wales. I found it by chance a few years ago whilst looking for a luxury spa break not to far away, set in the beautiful bay across from Conwy Castle the views out to sea are just so picture perfect. The Quay Spa hotel is a touch of luxury in a purpose-built marina setting full of nautical inspiration and features.

January can be a very dreary month after all the excitement of Christmas so I decided to take a few days away to recharge my batteries and then I can start the year refreshed and energized. Everyone has new years resolutions or goals and mine was to look after myself a little more so that I can be the best support to everyone else around me. I’ve now stayed at Deganwy three or four times and just find that the whole place seems to go at a slower pace than the City and walking along the beach front is so peaceful. IMG_4971

The Quay Spa hotel is about an hours drive away and after being shown to our room we decided to grab some lunch in the hotels bar lounge which overlooks the bay. The food here is amazing and even the bar menu is top restaurant quality as is the amazing service you receive by all the staff.

I absolutely love the decor at this hotel, there is everything from a chic lobby to a quiet snug room to sip a coffee after dinner, and if you decide to sit out on the marina terrace they even provide cosy woolen blankets to keep the chill off. Our room is a spacious double room with a gorgeous bathroom and balcony and after a quick change its off to the spa for some relaxation in the pool, jacuzzi and steam room.IMG_5400

The weekend package here included some treatments at the spa so I indulged in an Espa massage then afterwards I got to chill out in the Zen room and enjoyed some sorbet to cleanse the palette. I was so relaxed I decided to go back to the room and take a nap before getting ready for our evening meal in the restaurant. IMG_5291

As its winter and pretty cold at the moment I opted to wear a black jumper dress I got from Asos recently and my grey boots as the restaurant is classy but has a relaxed feel to it, not too stuffy. The three delicious courses though were amazing as is the attention to detail with everything, We have very often just driven here on a summer’s day just to have lunch and drinks by the sea it definitely has the feel good factor. IMG_5063

The next day after breakfast I wrapped up well and headed for a long walk along the beach which stretches for miles, I love watching the little sail boats go by and listening to the waves along the shore, there’s nothing more peaceful, there are a dozen really cute houses that must be guest houses in the busy Summer time but today was quite quiet and we barely saw a few people out walking.IMG_5427

I head home feeling totally calm and relaxed and definitely will be returning soon, for superb value and a touch of luxury and pampering I would highly recommend visiting The Deganwy Quay and Spa if you’re interested in wellness and wellbeing or just need to escape the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life for a while.
