My Apartment Tour

I like the simple things in life, no clutter, no frills no mess, I’ve found that when my home is in order my life feels a little less stressed. “A place for everything and everything in its place” is a saying my mum used to tell to me and now it’s what I live by.

Theres nothing more satisfying to me than having a good old clear out and re-organising cupboards, drawers and wardrobes, it’s like having a home detox! I’ve always been obsessed with all white walls in my home to give a feeling of space and light and it makes it easy to use furniture and accessories of any colour as accents so that at any time I can change the look of a room without having to re-decorate everything.

When I moved into my apartment 4 years ago one of the things that appealed to me was the all white walls, kitchen and bathroom, also the living room had 3 windows and the bedrooms had 2 windows so the light and sunshine poured in. Living in an apartment you learn to live minimalistic , I’ve never been one for lots of fuss but in limited space lots of accessories can over clutter a place and it can easily start to look untidy. I opted for plain light grey carpets throughout, and dark almost black flooring in the hallway that was a bit more practical and hard-wearing for a walk way. I like to stick to a colour palette of just white, grey and black to give a stylish, clean, classic look with hardware and lighting being Chrome. My furniture pieces are either white or mirrored and window dressings are kept minimal, simple white wooden slat blinds.

Apart from the all white everything I have a passion for mirrors and glass and because I wanted to create the look of more space I bought some huge floor to ceiling mirrors for the living room main wall so it gives the illusion of an extended room and also bounces the light around the place beautifully. My seating and corner sofa is made of white leather that can be easily wiped clean and I just have a few accent cushions and a cosy fake fur throw on it to make it less cold looking. One of the downsides of apartment living is that I can’t have a feature fireplace as there is no chimney, so after some research I came across the amazing smokeless ethanol fires, they look stylish, they heat the room up super quickly and having the flickering flames on a cold winters day is so homely.

The same colour scheme also runs through into the bedrooms, I have mirrored furniture and crisp white bedding for a clean chic look. Everything here has a place and even though I’ve been here for 4 years the decor remains classic and timeless.
