One of my favorite places to unwind and relax is the beautiful Lake District, a little over an hours drive from Manchester its the perfect countryside getaway. Set on the largest lake in England, Bowness on Windermere is where I will be staying for the weekend.
I’m returning to the ‘Windermere Boutique Hotel‘ a small but amazing place that has the luxurious feel of a spa retreat. Each guest bedroom has been individually designed with optimum relaxation in mind. I have chosen to stay in ‘The Sugar Suite‘ with its open log fires, English country decor and a huge contemporary bathroom complete with hot tub, steam room and water feature.
On arrival I’m greeted with a refreshing glass of champagne in the beautiful drawing-room before the friendly concierge shows me up to my suite.
Blessed by the great October weather we are having in England at the moment I decided to head out into the picturesque village of Bowness for a walk in the sunshine. The views across the lake towards the mountains are breath-taking!! Alongside the water’s edge are small lanes of boutique style shops, tea rooms and traditional pubs to explore.
An evening of much needed relaxation and pampering time in my very own spa bathroom was next on the agenda, also taking full advantage of the ‘Molton Brown‘ bath and body treats on offer. My favorite being the ‘Coco & Sandalwood Nourishing Body Lotion‘ that smells amazing and after the hot tub left my skin feeling silky soft.
On day two after a delicious hearty breakfast I headed back down to the lakeside and had some fun feeding the very friendly swans and geese.
On my last day I visited ‘The Swan Hotel at Newby Bridge‘ situated in a tranquil riverside setting, I indulged in afternoon tea and cake whilst admiring the chic decor.
Where is your most relaxing retreat??
Much Love
