Hello everyone! for a while now I’ve been thinking about writing a monthly favorites post and April has definitely been an interesting month for me. I’ve done quite a bit of springtime shopping lately with no plan in mind just picking up things I liked and also trying out a few different beauty products.
At the start of the month I had a huge clear out in my bedroom, living in an apartment I try to be as minimalistic as possible but my wardrobe, drawers and under the bed had become a bit of a mess.
Six bin bags and several trips to the charity shop later I had re organised my clothes but I still had a ton of shoes under my bed to clear out. I ended up ordering a whole new ottoman bed that lifts up so I can easily access shoes and bags etc and I love it! I managed to let go of quite a few pairs of shoes and boots that I was probably holding onto for the wrong reasons and I’ll never wear again.
One thing that’s kept me going this month are the changes ive made to my diet, I’ve been trying to include as many varieties of fruit and vegetables in my meals as I can. Now im quite fussy when it comes to some fruits but getting them all blended up into a smoothie makes them bearable and I know its doing wonders for my summer body and skin.
My biggest splurge last month was my new Audi TT, this car has been on my wish list for many years now and finally I took the plunge and treated myself. These days both my children are grown up and driving cars of their own so I no longer needed a big car so I opted for this two seater sports car (no more mums taxi) haha.
With Summer just around the corner White fashion is everywhere in the shops and other than my staple white jeans I love a crisp white shirt or pretty blouse worn with dark denim jeans.
The shirt in the picture above with the bow adds a twist to a wardrobe classic, I got this one from TM Lewin London shirt makers , they are well known for their top quality mens shirts in stores but you can now find their beautiful women’s styles online. The gorgeous frill blouse I got from Zara recently and I’m absolutely in love with it, the dotty fabric is so pretty and delicate, perfect for a Springtime look.
One of my birthday presents from my daughters was a trip to the 23rd floor of the Hilton tower in Manchester for afternoon tea in their Cloud 23 cocktail lounge. We had breathtaking views across the city, glorious sunshine and a beautiful cake stand full of delights to eat accompanied with unlimited pots of tea! I was in heaven.
Some of the new beauty products I’m trying out and loving this month are two new liquid foundations, both are multi task products that claim to conceal as well as give coverage. At first I thought they might be quite thick in consistency but I was pleasantly surprised. Max Factors Facefinity has quite a watery hydrating feel and absorbs into my skin very quickly but gives a lovely soft appearance and almost blurs out the look of imperfections.
The Milani foundation I must admit I hadn’t heard of before but my daughter recommended it to me as she had just tried out and loved one of the lighter shades, both of these I think are great and even though I still used a bit of concealer around eyes and nose in summer with a tan I think a light application will look stunning and fresh.
The YSL touché eclait has always had a place in my make up bag but when it ran out last week and I didn’t have time to get to a department store I picked up this Loreal Lumi magique highlighter. It’s not quite as thick and pigmented as the YSL but it does brighten any darkness under the eyes to give a more awake look. I’m going to try to get a slightly darker shade as I bought the very lightest one but I’d say give it a try as a very good drugstore dupe.
Also another product I’ve heard so much hype about and never tried before is the Benefit Gimme brow, I’ve used a clear mascara for years to tame and set my brows in place but when I saw this cute tester size in a Sephora in Rome I thought id try it out. At first I wasn’t sure about it, I couldn’t quite get it right because it has colour to it and I ended up with brown blobs and smears on my skin. Now after a weeks use I’ve perfected using the wand with a lighter hand and I love it as it adds a bit of colour to even the shortest little brow hairs giving a thicker brow look.
My final April (well March) favourite is this gorgeous Ted Baker handbag bought for me for my birthday by Mr Thirtynineforever. Although my birthday was at the beginning of March it took me so long to decide on a bag that was just the right size and colour. I’m really into the blush nude pinks that are around at the moment but pink shades can range from very lilac to quite orange looking and I wanted this bag to go with most of the outfits I had already purchased in pink, this Ted Baker Melody leather cross body bag is so perfect so big thanks!
I’d love to know what you are all loving this month so please leave a comment,
Much Love
Caroline xx
