As the seasons change there’s a buzz of excitement around the shops, the autumnal feel has definitely arrived even though here in the UK we are still enjoying some rather splendid mild sunny days. The usual colour trends of burgundy, orange and camel reflect the transition into October as well as the muted earthy tones of nude/ blush, khaki and grey continuing to be popular this season.
The styling details are seen in ruffles, pleats and frills, not for everyone but give a feminine touch to some classic pieces. Dark floral prints and granny chic if not for everyone will lift a plain outfit but I feel is a seasonal trend that may not make a wardrobe staple.
My recent trip up to the beautiful Lake District got me excited for cosy jumpers and comfy boots. I bought just a few pieces to mix into my wardrobe that will take me through to the colder months.
Nothing keeps your legs warmer better than a pair of leather trousers, every bloggers favorite last year and popular again this season are the Zara biker pants. I’ve certainly got my eye on the new burgundy coloured ones! team them with lightweight jumpers or chunky knits, boots for daytime walks or classic heels at night they are most definitely a wardrobe must have.
A pair of beige or grey ankle boots compliment most outfits in Autumn, I took the plunge and bought the over the knee boots this year. I must admit at first I had my reservations about them, was I too old? would I look like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman? but after trying on a few pairs I went for a muted greyish brown soft suede from Primark with a low block heel and rounded toe.
This warm country style sweater from New Look gives a modern twist to a regular turtleneck, I think if your’re going to opt for a big bold pattern then keep the colours neutral, that way it can be worn with most things you already have in your wardrobe. The design on this one almost reminds me of a blanket so was perfect for my country getaway.
Another item I wanted this month for an evening look was a high neck black top, the Victorian style is everywhere at the moment, high necks, ruffle details and almost shawl like frills on shirts are very pretty looking but I like the lace long sleeved look of this River Island blouse.
